Maharashtra: The Un-asked Questions

A few questions come to mind after watching the happenings in Maharashtra and Bihar for the past couple of weeks. There has been no dearth of analyses about these happenings in the print & electronic media. But somehow, the questions we have listed below are not to be seen in general discourse. KARNATIQUE requests readers to ponder over the questions below and express their opinions. After all, these are questions which matter not just to Maharashtra, but to every state in India:
  1. What is wrong if Marathi speaking people demand their share of employment opportunites in Maharashtra?
  2. Why should the Marathi speaking people not expect migrants who reside in Maharshtra to learn Marathi?
  3. What is wrong if Marathi speaking people insist on having Marathi signboards in Maharashtra?
  4. Why is no Maharshtra politician talking about the need to bring in a law to control inter-state migration?
  5. Why do politicians from Maharashtra speak to media in Hindi and not in Marathi?
  6. Why do the MNS and Shiv Sena politicians who claim to represent the Marathi speaking people use the RTI to get information on the number of Biharis who have been appointed for the past 10-15 years in the railway zone that covers Maharshtra?
  7. What are UP and Bihar governments doing to generate employment for their people?
  8. What has been the track record of the governments of UP and Bihar in maintaining law & order in their states?
  9. Why are citizens of UP and Bihar not demanding their political leaders to improve governance in their respective states, thereby resulting in increased employment opportunities for them?
  10. Why does Lalu not talk about stopping trains to Bihar after crores of rupees worth railway property is damaged by miscreants & hooligans in Bihar?

These questions can be asked in KArnataka also though some cannot be. We see many politicians speaking in Kannada or English but not Hindi. The solution might be a non-bihari railway minister at the centre.

Let them provide employment in Bihar for all the refugees. n those who refuge to other states, learn the culture of the state n abide to it.

The media is scared a lot. They are Hippocrates who dare not talk about the real issues like these. No need to answer these questions, instead if only a debate is initiated in every single media then there wont be any need for Raj Thackeray or any other son of the soil to fight on the streets.

Excellent questions, and very nice unbiased presentation. This is a welcome and refreshing change from the barrage of Hindi and English media that is bent upon shoving the same Hindi-imperialistic stuff down our throats. Kudos!

The North Indians butchered their fellow North Indians by the thousands in 1984. It was the Shiv Sena that extended protection to the North Indian Sikhs in Mumbai and Maharashtra at that time. Not even a single Sikh was harmed in Maharastra, while they were assaulted and brutalised all over North India. The main perpetrators of this ghastly massacre have not even been touched in the last 24 years.
Yet the Northies make a big issue if some Bihari students are roughed up follwing Lalu denying the local people their right to sit for RRB exams.

Hearty thanks to you for daring to voice your views openly regarding this matter!
I am a Maharashtrian and am deeply disturbed by the way things have been going! I don't hold Raj Thakre responsible for Rahul Raj's death, it's absurd to do so.
Raj Thakre has finally dared to speak out about something that most Maharashtrians have dared not even think. You are right when you say that people need to question Ministers from their respective states about jobs, infrastructure, reforms etc.

-What is wrong if Marathi speaking people demand their share of employment opportunites in Maharashtra?
I completely agree, if you mean the D type jobs after all they should be reserved for local jobs, rest all should be on merit.
-What is wrong if Marathi speaking people insist on having Marathi signboards in Maharashtra?
Its definetely wrong, you cant force people to learn something, its is in human. And why not Hindi is national language. Dont give lame excuses of South. National Language means national Language,I hope you understand this (no offenses)
-Why is no Maharshtra politician talking about the need to bring in a law to control inter-state migration?
Yes, This politicians are looking for vote, they are bastard, I support Raj for this, but his ways!
-Why do politicians from Maharashtra speak to media in Hindi and not in Marathi?
To reach the whole nation, now dont tell me you want the whole world to know marathi.
-Why do the MNS and Shiv Sena politicians who claim to represent the Marathi speaking people use the RTI to get information on the number of Biharis who have been appointed for the past 10-15 years in the railway zone that covers Maharshtra?
I dont understand this
-What are UP and Bihar governments doing to generate employment for their people?
People in UP bihar goverment are big bastards, they dont know how to do good, and if some one(RAJ) was doing some good they provoked him to wrong ways
-What has been the track record of the governments of UP and Bihar in maintaining law & order in their states?
No comment on this, we already know its worse that anywhere else.
-Why are citizens of UP and Bihar not demanding their political leaders to improve governance in their respective states, thereby resulting in increased employment opportunities for them?
Dude its not citizens its residents. We all of citizen only of india and thats it.And people's demand haha.. come on you must be joking, no politician does it, not even Raj Thackeray, what happened to his venture of generating jobs for maharastrians for which lata ji sang and got 2.5 Crore. Politicians cannot generate the job for your kind information, atleast not directly. This people by their jaat are jack ass. All of them. Raj was an exception but he is also rottening up.
-Why does Lalu not talk about stopping trains to Bihar after crores of rupees worth railway property is damaged by miscreants & hooligans in Bihar?
Lalu is bastard, he fucked bihar and now he is after peace of Maharastrians (This includes not Marathis and also north indians as well)

why shouldnt the signboards be in Marathi? why shouldnt the marathis have the sign boards in their language? and who told u that hindi is the "national language". hindi is just one of the languages in india. it doesnt have any special status.

and your assumption that people across India understand Hindi is a big joke. The media will post a translation of what is spoken for non marathi speaking people to understand. thats enough.

Soemwhere above Anonymous said regarding Marathi signboards that you cannot force people to learn a language/have signage in local language. Dude, you are seriously mistaken. There's a law in Maharashtra which says that local signage must be in the Devnagari/Marathi script. The law was made in 1962 but has not been diligently implemented. Why should the boards not be in Marathi when it's the state language, and perhaps the only language that a majority of people in Mah understand? Following this law implies that you respect the state language and the local people. Please do not look at everything from a commercial point of view.

Also, please don't accept the crap that Hindi is the national language. It is not. It is one of the OFFICIAL languages of the republic along with 22 other languages. the misconception that Hindi is the national language has been exploited by some imperialist Hindians who wrongly assert the superiority of Hindi over other regional languages. They should remember, if this imperialistic attitude continues, people will rebel against it not just in Maharashtra but any place which has a distinct local language and ethos. Already in Assam where Hindi is being shoved into the throats of locals thorough 'Kendriya Vidyalayas', the Assamese Khasi youth are saying "Khasi by birth, Indian (read Hindian) by force." So wake up and smell coffee.

It's time all the non-hindi speaking people support Marathi people. These Hindi beggars and thieves are out to loot India. They send the maximum number of representatives to the parliament and don't question their politicians about development, instead they migrate to other states and cause disturbances. The Hindi politicians are 'real culprits' here.

One solution is giving 'state citizenship' along with 'national citizenship' (like in US). The movement of one state's people in other state should be restricted. Also railway boards should fill the vacancices in a state (not regions/zones) with the people belongiong to respective states only.

I believe we kannadiga should not compare our demand for jobs in railways (or for that matter anything related to kannada) with Maharastra Raj Thackery politics.

By making this, we will be making our demands as "A-Pavitra".

Demand by Kannadigas are not for Politicle interest like present ones in Maharastra.

we need not have to justify our demand with happenings in Maharastra.

-North Indians,Tamilnadu...shows bad systems in our contry, that only polotical strength can make cetral government to reach out to states

Dude

What part of 1-Nation do you not understand?

There are quite a few people from all parts of the country in N. Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, (almost any metro). This is good for all but the lazy and unmotivated, as well as for politicians whose only appeal is based on identity (language, caste, religion, ...).

It would be much better for India if both Lalu Yadav, Raj Thackeray and others were to focus their efforts on creating infrastructure, jobs, and trained manpower all across the country - rather than spewing venom.

Thanks mate for speaking up on Maharashtrians behalf!
Maharashtrians aren't at all respected by these migrants. It is high time you people too start taking care of Banglore or else these Biharis would go there too. Although you will be able to keep them in check.

Thanks. UP and Bihar citizens reel under a myth that they are the true Indians and rest all are second-rate Indians; for the same reason, they stake a claim everything in Maharashtra. The recent most claim on the houses built by MHADA (Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority) by the migrants in Mumbai is absolutely funny and anger evoking!
